To engage in an Urban Yoga Workout with Noll Daniel is to experience one of
the most exhilarating yet relaxing forms of exercise. It skillfully integrates
the practice of yoga, its roots in ancient Indian culture and spirituality,
with the more contemporary Western gospels of body conditioning and muscle
toning.
There is a great emphasis on breathing throughout the class, from
the energizing "breath of fire" which conditions the body for the more difficult
postures, to the deep respiration, which allows the body to maintain and deepen
them. Carefully chosen music from around the world works in sync with the rhythms
of the class. The meditative environment created quiets the
restless mind and heightens one's spiritual awareness.
The focus inward shifts
outward with stirring tribal rhythms, which warm up the body and stimulate the
spirit for the more invigorating parts of the class. Every muscle group is
flexed, stretched, strengthened, and aligned. Even the internal organs are
massaged! The class ends with students reclining on their mats for a final
period of meditative relaxation. It is this combination of mutually
self-enhancing techniques that makes Noll Daniel's Urban Yoga Workout unique
in its field.
